WO1(Supvr R) Retd Max Scott
It is with a very heavy heart that we report the death of one of the most popular and talented members of the
Y Services Community. Maxie as he was known to us all, succumbed to a brief but severe illness on Monday 1 Jun
The following is a tribute to Maxie from Art Weaver:
Maxie started his Army service with the Junior Leaders Regiment Royal Signals (Denbury) in May 1965, passing out in August 1967, and it was here that he first met Julia. He enjoyed a full and varied career with the Y services, serving at all our principal units, as an Instructor at 224 Signal Squadron and also EW Squadron Blandford. He retired after 22 years service as a WO1(Supvr R). Maxie had the ability to see the funny side of any situation and he possessed a ‘wicked’ sense of humour. Any time spent with him would have a funny anecdote associated with it and he endeared himself to all who knew him.
Maxie was a truly modest man and one of the most technically competent of his era, particularly in the IT field. Following his service career Maxie developed his IT Skills further and spent many years working in the field of Computer Forensics with the Police and SFO.
Maxie and I served together on several tours and our families became firm friends for many years. He was one of the most genuine, likeable and loyal men I have had the privilege to have known. Jan and I are deeply saddened by his untimely passing.
Many of you will have known Maxie and have your own special memories of him. I am sure that all in the Y Services community will join me in offering Julia, Andrew, Kerry and his wider family our sincere sympathy and support at this time.
Rest in Peace old friend.
