It is with great sadness that the Branch has learned of the death of Peter Merritt, a long time member of the Y Services (Garats Hay) Branch who was a regular attendee at our annual meetings until he became too frail to travel.

We will all have our own special memories of serving with Peter, but perhaps you will permit me to share mine with you.

I served with Peter in Dannenberg in the mid-seventies, where he and Mo were much loved members of the H Troop family. He was a highly effective and extremely knowledgeable Operations Officer at the Troop, but of course had a range of other duties from maintaining the accounts to teaching us all to be better Bridge players! Highly intelligent, articulate and filled with drive and enthusiasm, he was a source of inspiration to all of us.

On behalf of the whole of the Y Services Branch I extend our deepest sympathy to Mo and her family.

Details of the funeral are set out below:

Monday 18th August 2014 at 1145 hours
Bramcote Crematorium
Coventry Lane

And afterwards back at 23 Ilkeston Road, Bramcote.

No flowers, but donations only, which if made, should go to the following:

Nottingham University Charity
Sherwood Building
City Hospital

Please put a note inside indicating in memory of Peter Merritt, Ward B47, QMC.

This is a specialist geriatric ward, which relies on donations to continue its work, and looked after Peter brilliantly during his last days and hours.

Mo has asked that her additional home details be included for cards and telephone calls (she has no interest in computers!!!), but is happy to talk.
